Could Momentec Brands’ New Mega-Center Become a Game-Changer for Kannapolis (and Charlotte)?
Momentec Brands — the parent company of several major athletic and team-apparel labels — is consolidating its operations into a massive 756,000-square-foot facility in Kannapolis, NC. The move is already reshaping the region’s industrial and job-market landscape.
What’s Happening?
Momentec has signed a full-building lease at Metro 63 — rebranded as the “Momentec Customer Success Center.” The facility, located at 5700 Royce Street near I-85 Exit 63, will combine manufacturing, packing, decorating, and shipping operations under one roof.
For the first time, all of Momentec’s apparel brands — including Russell Athletic, Badger Sportswear, Augusta Sportswear, and others — will operate from a single central hub.
Why Does It Matter?
- Job creation and economic boost: Once fully operational, the center is expected to employ approximately 700 people — a significant boost for the Kannapolis / Charlotte metro area.
- Operational efficiency & scale: Consolidating multiple operations (previously spread across several states) into one facility is likely to improve speed, accuracy, and responsiveness for uniform production and shipping.
- Strategic location: Locating along the I-85 corridor near Charlotte gives the company access to distribution and workforce advantages — strengthening Kannapolis’ growing profile as a logistics hub.
What Could This Mean for the Region?
For Kannapolis and the greater Charlotte region, Momentec’s arrival could signal more industrial and distribution-focused investment to come. The presence of a major employer, combined with improved infrastructure and distribution capabilities, might attract complementary businesses — further stimulating local economic growth and job opportunities.
The rollout begins this fall, with phased openings continuing into 2026. Full operations are expected in the first half of 2026.
